MayoClinic.comFor any help this may be.betMedical Services Health Information Appointments Education and Research Jobs About Gluten free diet: How to go gluten freeGetting on a gluten free diet isn't easy, but it's essential if you have celiac disease. Following are tips to help you on your way to safe and healthy eating.A gluten free diet excludes the protein gluten, which is found in grains such as wheat, barley or rye. If you or your child has celiac disease, a gluten free diet is essential, because gluten causes a problematic immune reaction in the small intestine. This reaction results in damage to the inner surface of the small intestine and an inability to absorb certain nutrients from food. If you think you may have celiac disease, wait until you've been diagnosed to start a gluten free diet. That's because it may be more difficult for your doctor to make a diagnosis if you've begun the diet before being tested. Initially, following a gluten free diet may be frustrating. But with time, patience and creativity, you'll find there are many foods that you can eat and enjoy. Avoid these foods in a gluten free dietTo manage celiac disease and prevent complications, it's crucial that you avoid all foods that contain gluten. Avoid these gluten-containing grainsAvoid all foods or food ingredients made from many grains, including: a.. Wheat b.. Barley c.. Rye d.. Farina e.. Graham flour f.. Semolina g.. Durham h.. Bulgur i.. Kamut j.. Kasha k.. Matzo meal l.. Spelt (a form of wheat) m.. Triticale Oats may not be harmful for most people with celiac disease, but oat products are frequently contaminated with wheat, so it's best to avoid oats as well. The question of whether people eating a gluten free diet can consume pure oat products remains a subject of scientific debate. Difficulties in identifying the precise components of grains responsible for the immune response and the chemical differences between wheat and oats have contributed to the controversy. Avoid these products unless labeled 'gluten free'The following grains are gluten free as grown, but may be contaminated by other grains during harvesting and processing. Verify that these are processed in a gluten free facility before consuming them: a.. Amaranth b.. Buckwheat c.. Quinoa Most foods made from grains contain gluten. Avoid these foods unless they're labeled as gluten free or made with corn, rice, soy or other gluten free grain. It's also important that they're processed in a facility that is free of wheat or other contaminating products: a.. Breads b.. Cereals c.. Crackers d.. Croutons e.. Pasta f.. Cookies g.. Cakes and pies h.. Soups i.. Gravies j.. Sauces (including soy sauce) k.. Salad dressings l.. Beer m.. Candy n.. Imitation meat or seafood o.. Processed luncheon meats p.. Self-basting poultry Many other products that you may consume or that may touch your mouth have ingredients that contain gluten. These include: a.. Food additives, such as malt flavoring, modified food starch and others b.. Medications and vitamins that use gluten as a binding agent c.. Lipstick and lip balms d.. Toothpaste e.. Postage stamps f.. Play dough Cross-contamination also may occur anywhere ingredients come together, such as on a cutting board or a grill surface. You may be exposed to gluten by using the same utensils as others, such as a bread knife, or by sharing the same condiment containers — the condiment bottle may touch the bun, or a knife with bread crumbs may contaminate a margarine stick or mayonnaise jar. Safe foods in a gluten free dietFoods allowed in a gluten free diet There are still many basic foods allowed in a gluten free diet. These include: a.. Fresh meats, fish and poultry (not breaded, batter-coated or marinated) b.. Most dairy products c.. Fruits d.. Vegetables e.. Rice f.. Potatoes g.. Gluten free flours (rice, soy, corn, potato) h.. Wine and distilled liquors, ciders and spirits Products labeled 'gluten free' also safeFortunately for bread and pasta lovers with celiac disease, there are an increasing number of gluten free products on the market. If you can't find them at your local bakery or grocery store, check with a celiac support group or the Internet. In fact, there are gluten free substitutes for many gluten-containing foods, from brownies to beer. Many specialty grocery stores sell gluten free foods. Note that "wheat-free" doesn't necessarily mean gluten free. The product may still contain rye, barley or spelt ingredients that contain gluten. How to tell what's OKRead food labels every timeRead the label before you purchase any food product. Some foods that may appear acceptable, such as rice or corn cereals, may contain gluten. What's more, a manufacturer may change a product's ingredients at any time. A food that was once gluten free no longer may be. Unless you read the label every time you shop, you won't know for sure. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires products containing wheat, milk, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish or eggs to say so in plain English on the product's label. By August 2008, the FDA is expected to issue a standard definition of "gluten free" to make it easier for shoppers with celiac disease to identify products. Call the manufacturerIf you can't tell by the label if a food contains gluten, don't eat it until you check with the product's manufacturer. Some support groups produce a gluten free shopper's guide that can save you time at the market, although it may not be as current as that obtained from the manufacturer. Tips for cooking at homeFor thickening, use cornstarch, potato starch, arrowroot or tapioca flour in place of wheat flour. And in baked products, substitute rice, potato, corn, soy or a blend of these or other gluten free flours. Amounts and other ingredients in recipes may need to be adjusted. Gluten free cookbooks are available that can give you a good start at adjusting recipes. You can still eat outThough preparing your own meals is the easiest way to monitor your diet, this doesn't mean you can't dine out. For an enjoyable experience, remember the following advice: a.. Select places that specialize in the kinds of foods you can eat. You may want to call the restaurant in advance and discuss the menu options and your dietary needs. b.. Be a repeat customer. Visit the same restaurants so that you become familiar with their menus and the staff gets to know your needs. c.. Seek and share ideas. Ask members of your support group for suggestions on restaurants that serve gluten free food. If there are enough gluten-sensitive people in your community, it's likely that restaurant owners will try to satisfy your needs. Continue to share with the support group the names of restaurants that add gluten free foods to their menus. d.. Follow the same practices you do at home. Select simply prepared or fresh foods and avoid all breaded or batter-coated foods, gravies and other foods with obvious or questionable ingredients. Avoid cross-contamination , such as grills that have had buns or bread on them, which can contaminate your meat, or deep fat fryers that have had batter-fried fish in them, which can contaminate your french fries. What if you eat gluten? If you accidentally eat a product that contains gluten, you may experience abdominal pain and diarrhea. Some people experience no signs or symptoms after eating gluten, but this doesn't mean it's not damaging their small intestine. Even trace amounts of gluten in your diet may be damaging, whether or not they cause signs or symptoms. Going on and off a gluten free diet could lead to serious complications such as bone loss, anemia, vitamin deficiencies or gastrointestinal cancer, especially lymphoma. Ask for helpIdentifying gluten free foods can be difficult. Because a gluten free diet needs to be strictly followed, you may wish to consult a registered dietitian who teaches the gluten free diet. A dietitian can advise you on how to best maintain the nutritional quality of your diet and help you with gluten free alternatives. Your dietitian can also help you identify your need for vitamin, calcium and mineral supplements. Meeting with the dietitian regularly will help keep you up to date on newer food products as well as answer your questions. RELATEDa.. Celiac disease diet: How do I fit in grains? b.. You also can smear the dip inside warm crepes for a different kind of presentation.
Food as MedicineRich color in vegetables usually indicates abundant heart-healthy antioxidants, and deep-purple eggplant is no exception. Eggplant is a particularly good source of an antioxidant called chlorogenic acid, which is among the most potent plant-based free-radical scavengers ever discovered.

Ingredients
1 eggplant (1 1/2 pounds)1/2 medium onion, grated or finely chopped2 tablespoons capers2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper1 tablespoon red wine vinegar 4 pitas1 tomato, peeled, seeded and diced1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375° F.2. Set the eggplant on a baking pan or dish and pierce it a few times with a knife. Bake it until it becomes soft, about 30 minutes; it should pierce easily with a fork. Remove it from the oven and let cool. When completely cooled, peel the skin off and put the flesh into a blender or food processor. Add the onions, capers, and lemon juice. Turn on the machine, then gradually add the olive oil. Continue to blend until the eggplant is smooth and creamy. Transfer to a bowl and stir in the oregano, salt, pepper, and vinegar.3. Warm the pitas briefly on a baking sheet, then cut each of them into 8 wedges. Arrange them on a plate or platter. Just before serving, stir the tomato and parsley into the dip.

Fibromyalgia...Fact or Fiction (lots of info)

http://www.massagea ndbodywork. com/Articles/ FebMar2006/ fibromyalgia. html

Fibromyalgia - Fact or Fiction
Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Ongoing investigations continue as medical and manual therapy offices are flooded with increasing numbers of reported fibromyalgia cases but, like the oft-quoted analogy of the blind man and the elephant, we currently know more about the components of FMS than we know about the “beast” as a whole. Now that rheumatologists have granted legitimacy by labeling and classifying this vague and controversial syndrome, current beliefs regarding possible origins must be discussed.
Fibromyalgia primarily manifests as pain in muscles, ligaments, and tendons — the fibrous tissues in the body. FMS was originally termed “fibrositis,” implying the presence of muscle inflammation, but contemporary research proved that inflammation did not exist. Some in the complementary medical community believe that fibromyalgia should be a primary consideration in any client/patient presenting with musculoskeletal pain that is unrelated to a clearly defined anatomic lesion. Conversely, many researchers question the very existence of the syndrome since fibromyalgia sufferers typically test normal on laboratory and radiologic exams.
For more than a century, medical science has continued to move forward in its ability to recognize, categorize, and name painful patient disorders. Technological advances have made it much easier for medical doctors to rule out specific maladies from a variety of symptoms presented in the clinical setting. Additionally, modern testing methods have allowed researchers to become more confident in their ability to determine what is and what is not a disorder or disease. However, this newfound confidence has created controversy and debate over some disorders that cannot be universally proven, even though the symptoms are undeniable.
In recent years, many common diseases have been named and treatments discovered. This applies to mental health as well as physiological disorders. Today’s society seems to be more open now than ever before to the possibility that there exists mental and physical dysfunctions not yet recognizable through medical testing, but real just the same.
Part of this acceptance comes from mankind’s history of disease discoveries. It was not so long ago that people with epilepsy were believed to be possessed by the devil. Today, it is an accepted disorder with known biological causes and medical treatment options. The historical fact that symptoms, dysfunctions, and diseases often appear long before researchers are able to devise reliable diagnostic testing procedures to identify and treat the malady makes it appear unreasonable that the existence of the condition would be doubted or debated … but this is the case with fibromyalgia.
Psychosomatic or Physiologic Fibromyalgia has come under fire in many circles including medical, psychological, and manual therapy. There are two camps firmly divided on their beliefs as to the cause and treatment of the disorder while a third group of researchers and medical practitioners reject the existence of fibromyalgia altogether.1
Simply put, one camp believes that FMS is a mental health issue without a biological origin, whereas the other camp is firmly convinced that it is a physiological disorder even though researchers have yet to identify definitive diagnostic criteria. While each side squabbles over the fibromyalgia conundrum, thousands of Americans each year suffer diverse and sometimes disabling symptoms with little help coming from the medical and insurance industries.
Meanwhile, the debate over the reality of the disorder carries on as scientific evidence continues to accumulate in favor of the physiological aspect of fibromyalgia. Currently, traditional and complementary medicine success rates in treating the disorder point to the fact that it is primarily a physiological condition with biological origins.
In the heat of the debate, the American College of Rheumatology comprised a list of criteria for the purpose of classifying fibromyalgia. The list includes classic symptoms such as having a history of widespread pain for more than three previous months.
The college went on to define a series of 18 checkpoints (tender points) for the pain sites (see Figure 1). A client is required to have pain in 11 or more of the 18 sites to be considered a true case of fibromyalgia.2 Since the symptoms are relatively simple to recognize, why the continued debate? Part of the trouble lies in the fact that the symptoms are sometimes vague and reminiscent of other musculoskeletal complaints.
Confusing Symptoms From the massage therapist’s office to the traditional medical facility, clients/patients are presenting in increasing numbers with a variety of unexplained symptoms. However, there are definitely some shared symptom commonalities such as predictable tender points, extreme fatigue, poor sleeping patterns, and whole-body pain upon awakening. Regrettably, musculoskeletal pain research generally lags behind well-funded scientific projects with possibilities for more lucrative outcomes. It often takes years to definitively confirm and classify conditions with vague, widespread symptoms like fibromyalgia. This confusing disorder continues to be poorly understood, and clients often suffer for several years before a medical diagnosis is made. Figure 2 illustrates an interesting biological explanation detailing the downward degenerative spiral seen in many fibromyalgia clients.
Fibromyalgic symptoms have been described as steady, radiating, burning, and spreading over large areas of the body. The pain often involves the neck, shoulders, back, and pelvic girdle. Clients report that pain seems to emanate specifically from muscles, tendons, ligaments, bursa, and joints. Most identify pain as their cardinal symptom. Fibromyalgia pain appears to worsen with cold temperatures, increased humidity, weather changes, overexertion, and stress. Many clients report symptomatic pain reduction with hot baths, heating pads, and warm weather.
Fatigue and lethargy are also on the following list of symptoms (see page 64) for the disorder. Clients commonly complain of feeling extremely fatigued and unable to muster the energy to do the things that they need to get done. This can entail a lack of energy for cleaning house, getting to work, performing at work, participating in social outings, etc. Poor sleeping patterns are another classic symptom of the disorder. Many report that they wake several times each night and often have a difficult time returning to sleep.3
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is another commonality that fibromyalgia clients tend to share. It is interesting that IBS is an accepted medical disease even though there is no concrete medical proof of its origin or existence, while fibromyalgia is still under scrutiny.
The reduced ability to concentrate as well as frequent bouts of depression also top the fibromyalgia symptom list.
Physical Examination Careful examination reveals areas of pain on palpation but without the classic inflammatory signs of redness, swelling, and heat in the joints and soft tissues. Skill in palpating tender points is critical to establishing a correct assessment for fibromyalgia. Physical findings encountered during soft-tissue palpation include tender points, increased resting muscle tension, and tissue texture changes in the skin and subcutaneous fascia.
When assessing the possibilities of fibromyalgia, it is important that other potential conditions be ruled out as well. The symptoms may mimic dysfunctions such as myofascial pain syndrome, peripheral neurogenic pain, medicinal toxicity, and some types of arthritis. Therefore, when presented with the possibility of a true fibromyalgia case, detailed assessment and history intake are of utmost importance. Since the most significant area of pain tends to shift over time, the first step in assessing true fibromyalgia is to determine if similar functional/structur al disorders are at play.
Myofascial Pain or Fibromyalgia Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) emanating from hyperirritable trigger points is often confused with fibromyalgia. To complicate the situation, MPS may occur in clients suffering with fibromyalgia. However, a carefully conducted history intake and physical examination usually helps the therapist determine if the client is presenting with fibromyalgic symptoms, MPS, or both. While fibromyalgia pain is widespread with changing areas of emphasis, myofascial tender points are typically restricted to one spot, though the point may refer pain to other areas.
Contrary to popular belief, many in the medical field do not believe MPS symptoms arise from taut myofascial trigger point bands, but instead from peripheral nerve pain at motor end plates.4 Much of the neurological literature today does not include the trigger point taut band theory as a recognized anatomical cause of entrapment neuropathy. Since the connective tissues of human peripheral nerves are well innervated, some researchers believe peripheral nerve pain (aching, tingling, and numbing) best describes the symptoms occurring in many myofascial pain syndrome cases. MPS is said to result from hyperexcited chemoreceptors activated by inflamed, disorganized nerve ending bundles.
Regardless of the outcome of the myofascial pain syndrome debate, the disorder still should be easy to identify during the evaluation process since the client’s pain will be limited to a particular region (over time), often eliciting a referral pattern when digital pressure is applied. Although location does little to distinguish between MPS and fibromyalgic tender points (since they often occur in similar body areas), specific hands-on assessments help to clearly differentiate between myofascial pain and fibromyalgia (see Figure 3).
The Psychologic Debate Goes On As is the case with many disorders, fibromyalgia is attracted to one gender more than another. This agonizing condition is more pervasive in women with the most common onset between 25 and 50 years of age. Estimates of prevalence are 3.4 percent for women and 0.5 percent for men.5 It is estimated that 20 percent of the female population will end up in a rheumatologist’ s office.
Women suffering fibromyalgia often report high levels of stress in their daily lives, which also contributes to the idea that it may have roots as a mental health disorder and is not completely physiological in nature. Because the brain’s emotional center (limbic system) is the highest cortical level regulating muscle tone, any alteration in limbic function may precipitate myofascial pain patterns.
Psychologic disorders have been, and continue to be, researched to determine if a relationship exists with fibromyalgia. Depression, somatization, panic, and obsessive-compulsiv e behavior have been seen in some fibromyalgia clients. Depression occurs in about 20 percent of clients and may be the result of having to live with chronic pain. The debate is based on the belief that some think fibromyalgia is actually a mental health issue. There are those who believe it to be a subconscious attempt to avoid the stresses of daily life and work.
Currently, there is not a known physiological explanation for the widespread array of symptoms common to all sufferers of the disorder. It is because of the lack of a generally accepted physiologically- based explanation that it is often suggested to be a mental rather than a physical disorder.
Fibromyalgic symptoms could also be caused by mental malfunctioning according to those who do not believe it has a physiological basis. Over half of those diagnosed with the condition have a past history of other ailments which also have no medical proof of existence, including chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, and chronic headaches.6 It is this dilemma that causes some experts to reject a medical origin and point to mental health networks for answers to the problem.
The confusion with the mental health suggestion is that it does not explain certain physical changes that take place in patients with fibromyalgia. Certain organic aberrations have been found in people with fibromyalgia, although it is not yet known whether these came before or after the syndrome developed. Among them are changes in nervous system chemicals that may explain the common problem of disturbed sleep. Fibromyalgia patients typically lack restorative or slow-wave (theta and delta) sleep, which can result in chronic fatigue and heightened sensitivity.
Researchers have found levels of substance P, a chemical related to pain, and some abnormal pain-related peptides to be excessively high in the cerebrospinal fluid of fibromyalgia patients.7 Heightened levels usually mean the person perceives more pain. In a study reported in the Journal of Rheumatology , Muhammad Yunus, M.D., and associates discovered that people with fibromyalgia actually had diminished blood flow — meaning less functional activity in two areas of the brain that help regulate the amount of pain signals the brain receives.8 This study supports the author’s belief that poor upper cervical alignment from forward head postures may be a contributing structural factor to fibromyalgia. Poor occipitoatlantal (O-A) and atlantoaxial (A-A) alignment can compromise (occlude) vertebral and basilar artery output to posterior and mid-cranial regions, robbing the brain of vital nutrients, especially oxygen (see Figure 4).
Treatment Options Because the symptoms of fibromyalgia wax and wane, treatment (as with that of other chronic diseases) should be considered an ongoing process rather than management of a single episode. Flare-ups often exacerbate the client’s underlying stress. Furthermore, stress can also precipitate flare-ups of fibromyalgia.
The first line of defense for relieving basic fibromyalgic symptoms should be body therapy and exercise. Although pain from this condition primarily manifests in specifically designated areas, the trained manual therapist refrains from “chasing the pain” and instead, seeks to restore whole body function by testing for ART: asymmetry; restriction of motion; and tissue texture abnormality.
Postural evaluations using Upper and Lower Crossed Syndromes (see Figure 5), developed by Vladimir Janda, M.D., have proven extremely beneficial in identifying asymmetrical muscle imbalance patterns that exacerbate fibromyalgic symptoms. Specific hands-on techniques that lengthen tight, neurologically facilitated muscles and tonify weak, inhibited muscles helps restore balance and symmetry while fighting off the compressive forces of gravity.
Tissue texture abnormalities must be closely evaluated in clients presenting with fibromyalgic symptoms. Boggy, leathery, fibrotic, contractured, and spasmodic tissues are potential pain generators, with each requiring a uniquely different hands-on approach. Post-isometric relaxation routines (see Figures 6 and 7, page 68) prove beneficial in recovering lost range of motion to fibrotic spine-related tissues such as joint capsules, ligaments, and paravertebral myofascia. Any deep-tissue technique that calms central nervous system hyperactivity and lowers sympathetic tone will greatly benefit those with fibromyalgia.
While it is tempting for the client to relax and not move joints and muscles that are hurting, moving them is one of the best preventive and curative measures found so far to alleviate the painful symptoms. Traditional massage techniques are helpful in desensitizing hyperexcited cutaneous (skin and fascial) neuroreceptors. However, deep-tissue techniques that incorporate active client movements (enhancers) during the hands-on work add additional therapeutic power by calming pain-generating articular (joint) receptors. Intrinsic muscles and joints are inseparable; what affects one always affects the other. Therefore, a more holistic approach to treating fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndromes should include soft-tissue techniques that create extensibility in contractured tissues; tonify weak muscles; and decompress impacted, motion-restricted joints and their supporting ligaments.
Exercise … gooood! Incrementally, the more exercise clients are able to do, the better they will feel. It doesn’t matter what kind of aerobic exercise — swimming, biking, jogging, walking, dancing — as long as they hit their target heart rate for at least 30 minutes a day. Some clients report feeling better as they gradually increase their exercise programs to 30 minutes twice a day.
Why do clients suffering fibromyalgia improve with vigorous exercise? One notion suggested is that aerobic exercise beefs up the body’s supply of endorphins, a natural pain-dampening and sleep-deepening substance. Exercise increases levels of serotonin and growth hormones, the exact pain-reducing, muscle-repair hormones that people with fibromyalgia may lack. Exercise also increases blood flow to the muscles. It is well documented that people with fibromyalgia do have slightly less blood flow to their muscles, which might also contribute to pain. Exercise and bodywork together are often just the answer for helping reverse this often debilitating condition.
***
Fibromyalgia is a disorder with no widely accepted medical proof. It is a chronic condition characterized by symptoms of widespread pain and tender points as well as fatigue, depression, and sleep disorders. While scientists at the present time have found no generally accepted way to medically document the existence of fibromyalgia, it has been proven that there are physiological changes present in many who have the disorder. The debate will continue to rage as to its origin and existence. Some insist that it is a medical condition while others are convinced that it is a mental health issue. In the meantime, as the research rolls in and the truth is eventually decided, it is in the client’s best interest to immediately begin routinely scheduled bodywork sessions in conjunction with a specialized exercise regime regardless of origin. Well-structured manual therapy sessions and individualized rehabilitation programs appear to be the treatment of choice for this chronic and sometimes disabling condition that affects an estimated 2 million Americans each year.
Erik Dalton, Ph.D., Certified Advanced Rolfer, founded the Freedom From Pain Institute and created Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques to share his passion for massage, Rolfing, and manipulative osteopathy. It has taken me a very long time to get this right and the things that have helped me the most are natural thyroid med( i buy it online as I could not get it prescribed to me), cutting back stress as mcuh as possible, i take an antianxiety med for sleeping at night as i had insomnia so badly, and i take things like herbs to help my adrenals. you need to change your diet. thisstep helped me more than anything. lay off the carbs. when youre low in blood sugar you need protein, not carbs. carbs cause a rise in blood sugar and then a terrible dip, creating a problem. complex carbs should be eaten, but always with protein. i can't do gluten amymore so i eat veggies and brown rice for complex carbs. i eat organic beef and i eat often. Any questions, feel free to ask. Check out Graviola Tree

How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree?
If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you, it's the incredible story behind the Graviola tree.
The truth is stunningly simple: Deep within the Amazon Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances of survival. The future has never looked more promising.
Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to...
Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea or weight loss
Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections
Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment
Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life
The source of this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of America's largest drug manufacturers, the fruit of over 20 laboratory tests conducted since the 1970's! What those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing... Extracts from the tree were shown to:
Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer.
The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug!
What's more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectively hunts down and kills only cancer cells. It does not harm healthy cells!
The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been extensively researched--so why haven't you heard anything about it? If Graviola extract is as half as promising as it appears to be--why doesn't every single oncologist at every major hospital insist on using it on all his or her patients?
The spine-chilling answer illustrates just how easily our health--and for many, our very lives (!)--are controlled by money and power.
Graviola--the plant that worked too well
One of America's biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing tree from the Amazon Rainforest.
Various parts of the Graviola tree--including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds--have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indians in South America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis. Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company poured money and resources into testing the tree's anti-cancerous properties--and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a cancer-killing dynamo.
But that's where the Graviola story nearly ended.
The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree--it's completely natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There's no way to make serious profits from it.
It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to synthesize two of the Graviola tree's most powerful anti-cancer ingredients. If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola so potent, they'd be able to patent it and make their money back. Alas, they hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated. There was no way the company could protect its profits--or even make back the millions it poured into research.
As the dream of huge profits evaporated, their testing on Graviola came to a screeching halt. Even worse, the company shelved the entire project and chose not to publish the findings of its research!
Luckily, however, there was one scientist from the Graviola research team whose conscience wouldn't let him see such atrocity committed. Risking his career, he contacted a company that's dedicated to harvesting medical plants from the Amazon Rainforest and blew the whistle.
Miracle unleashed
When researchers at the Health Sciences Institute were alerted to the news of Graviola, they began tracking the research done on the cancer-killing tree. Evidence of the astounding effectiveness of Graviola--and its shocking cover-up--came in fast and furious...
...The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in 1976. The results showed that Graviola's "leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells." Inexplicably, the results were published in an internal report and never released to the public...
...Since 1976, Graviola has proven to be an immensely potent cancer killer in 20 independent laboratory tests--yet no double-blind clinical trials, the typical benchmark mainstream doctors and journals use to judge a treatment's value--were ever initiated...
...A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, following a recent study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated that one chemical in Graviola was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at "10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug) Adriamycin..."
...The most significant part of the Catholic University of South Korea report is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the cancer cells leaving healthy cells untouched. Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells), causing the often devastating side effect of nausea in cancer patients.
...A study at Purdue University recently found that leaves from the Graviola tree killed cancer cells among six human cell lines and were especially effective against prostate, pancreatic and lung cancers...
Seven years of Silence Broken--it's finally here!
A limited supply of Graviola extract, grown and harvested by indigenous people in Brazil, is finally available in America. You don't have herpes
2. Herpes is no big deal.
3. There's nothing you can do

Most people "know" herpes. They know it to be the sores, lesions, chicken pox, or shingles some unfortunate people get as a result of stress, infection, or other diseases. They think either you have herpes or you don't. They also know that, while herpes is no fun, in most cases, it's not a big deal either.

Most people are wrong. Dangerously wrong.
Up to 90% of the population carry the herpes virus--and have been from the age of 10 years or younger! The vast majority simply don't know it. In most people, the virus is dormant. But, that doesn't make it any less dangerous. Science is learning, with growing alarm, that the herpes virus is linked to an ever-growing list of very serious ailments. Some, you'd have never guessed.
"I'm so glad I have signed up for your newsletter! What a wealth of information in my first issue. I think I'm going to start a file for your issues, for future reference, when I need it. Thanks again. Learning and interested!"
--Vivian P.
For instance--heart attack. There's a growing body of evidence that a herpes virus called CMV triggers the clogging of your cardiac artery walls. 75% of all Americans over the age of 60 carry CMV with no observable symptoms.
Among other illnesses, various strains of the herpes virus have been shown to trigger rheumatoid arthritis, mononucleosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and Kaposi's sarcoma (a deadly type of skin cancer).
The biggest problem, of course, is that herpes is a virus. By and large, medical science has no real answers to viruses of any kind. This leaves most of us to go through our lives carrying the dormant virus like a time-bomb waiting to explode into shingles...rheumatoid arthritis... cancer...heart disease...or any one of the most lethal ailments inflicting our society today.
But, as frightening as the idea of a single uncontrollable culprit behind so many illnesses may be, there's a flip side:
If there was something we could do about the herpes virus, we'd be eliminating a huge danger from our lives in one fell swoop!
And guess what? That "something" was indeed found. It was under our noses all along.
In the beginning, say Native Americans, God created a perfect remedy to the herpes virus and the symptoms it causes.
"I have shared much of the copious amounts of information you send with my family, and I feel that this information is helping us all live healthier lives. Thank you so much!"
--Ann B.
Legend has it the Larrea tridentata, an ancient desert bush, was the first plant created in the world. True or not, the Larrea bush (known in the Southwest as the creosote bush or chaparral) is certainly a special plant with some truly amazing healing properties. Chief among these is its ability to make short work of such diverse afflictions as herpes (of any kind), rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi's sarcoma, and shingles.
Larrea's healing properties were known for quite a while. During the 1960s, much attention was given to the raw chaparral's promising anti-cancer properties. That research, however, was abandoned because some toxicity was suggested.
But the Larrea therapeutic potential was simply too big and too important to be forsaken. In the 1990s, a group of scientists succeeded in identifying the beneficial components of the Larrea plant and separated them from the oxidative components (which are the origins of any possible toxicity). A new compound was created and extensively tested. These tests proved beyond doubt that the new, all natural compound has no toxicity whatsoever to either animals or people--even at levels five times higher than the normal dose.
But the scientists also found the new compound to be a lot more than just non-toxic.
Stunning relief
The new Larrea compound was proven to be effective in a full 90% of the cases! This is an almost unheard of rate of effectiveness. As time goes by, study cases just keep on piling high with success stories of amazing relief. What's more, the new compound is not only effective--it's also incredibly fast!
A woman suffering from recurrent oral herpes previously used acyclovir with only mixed results. After a single application of the Larrea preparation, lesions were completely healed within 12 hours-- the pain and swelling were relieved immediately.
A male, 55 years of age, has herpes zoster (shingles) and possible candida yeast infection, which result in apparent skin rashes on the legs. The severity of pain reported before the use of LARREA was 7 on a scale of 1-10. Within 1 week the patient reported an improvement in pain severity to a level of 1. Lesions cleared within 24 hours.
A small study conducted in Philadelphia treated a number of patients with severe herpes simplex 1 and 2 and zoster (shingles) with both the Larrea preparation and capsules. The results? 100% success rate, usually within 24-48 hours! The clinicians also reported success using the lotion to avert impending outbreaks which are usually signaled by a tingling sensation.
Repeated tests showed that oral herpes outbreaks that last three to seven days were gone within 24 hours of the Larrea lotion application.
Shingles sufferers typically get complete relief within minutes!
Health Sciences Institute expert panelist Dr. Robert Sinnott is one of the leading researchers on the use of the Larrea preparation and the link between the herpes viruses and serious disease. Thanks to Dr. Sinnott, HSI members were among the first to hear of this incredible therapy, and were among the first to have access to it.
The product he helped develop is manufactured to the same exacting standards as those used with such success in the studies mentioned above. The complex nature of this syndrome provokes us to look carefully at our use of this word. With many other illnesses, recovery usually suggests a "return to the old," recovering the old way of life, resuming the activities and lifestyle to which we had grown accustomed. Yet, one of the greatest mistakes people with CFS can make is to hold a vision of recovery as "returning to the way I was living before I got sick." The difficulty is that, given the multicausal perspective, the way you were living before you got sick may have been a co-factor in your getting sick. This raises the question of what it is that we hope to recover. Obviously, if you believe that certain lifestyle factors may have contributed to your vulnerability to CFS, and your vision is to return to those same conditions, then in that sense recovery is not desirable, nor is it likely to endure. If, on the other hand, recovery means re-establishing a sense of equilibrium, control, harmony, and quality in your life, then yes, recovery is desirable.Below we will explore two broad perspectives on the meaning of recovery. One looks at recovery in quantitative terms, the other in qualitative terms.Quantitative: Recovering a Prior Level of FunctioningMany clinicians and people with CFS think of recovery in terms of activity level or level of daily functioning. This entails a comparison of your current activity level to your pre-illness level. This of course is the first concern most people have, since it addresses the most obvious source of distress with CFS--not being able to do things in daily functioning like we did before. This approach defines recovery in quantitative terms, as in how much energy and activity you have compared to before. In this view, full recovery means a full return to pre-illness levels.Clinical experience indicates that in terms of activity level many patients improve in two to four years, though not necessarily back to pre-illness levels. There is however a range of responses. There are those who seem to improve faster. I have known former patients who, through learning the art of moderation, have been able to run, windsurf, or ski again. On the other hand, as observed by Jay Goldstein, M.D. of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Institute of Beverly Hills, there are a minority of patients who experience progressive worsening of symptoms.7While it is impossible to predict for a given individual what degree of activity will be reclaimed, there is plenty of reason for hope of re-establishing a satisfactory level of functioning. This is especially true for those who take an active role in health promotion. What is "satisfactory" is of course a subjective judgement, and depends a great deal on your expectations and standards for what is acceptable.Qualitative: Recovering a Sense of Equilibrium and ControlI have known many former patients who describe themselves as recovered from CFS, but whose outward lives look very different from before the illness. From the quantitative point of view, they might be working fewer hours, getting less achieved, exercising with less intensity or duration, taking more rest than before, and paying more attention to managing their energy. Yet there has been a dramatic positive change in their sense of equilibrium and control in their lives. There is a new understanding and respect for the body's responses to stress or challenge.Their values and interests have changed, making them more appreciative of what they have. They may place less emphasis on outward performance or achievement, and more emphasis on living in harmony with their relationships and their surroundings. And amid all these changes has arisen a clearer sense of purpose, meaning, and living in balance, qualities that they did not have before the illness. As a result, the recovery they are describing is not a matter of picking up where they left off. Rather it is a departure from the direction they had been taking before, an expansion into new ways of living that make their lives richer and more meaningful. For many, this "recovery" has taken place while adjusting to and accepting a level of overall energy and outward functioning that is lower than what they had prior to CFS.We will explore the meaning of recovery at greater length in the next chapter. For now, consider the proposition that where CFS is concerned, recovery and discovery go hand in hand. The goal should not be limited to recovering the old, in the quantitative sense; it should include discovering the new. For some it takes courage to accept that this illness may signal the end of one way of life and the beginning of another. For others, this may come as a relief.Recovery from CFS is both a challenge and an adventure, and as you will see later in the stories of others, unexpected rewards await you.Thought it might help someone.

Understanding Adrenal Failure and all related issues

http://www.tuberose.com/Adrenal_Glands.html

Wow! Why do I feel so guilty for contributing so much less to my church and community than others? I just am who I am and can only do however much God enables me. I want to cuss at all the people who keep telling me I just need to profess myself well, claiming Christ's stripes and then walk in my healing. I have pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed as hard a a person can push. I'm done pushing. I'm exhausted. I'm so sick of being made to feel guilty for being ill. All that extra pushing has contributed to where I am now. I am FAR from lazy. I am far from IRRESPONSIBLE. When God chooses to heal me, I will know it and I will gladly walk in it. Until then, I need to do the responsible thing and take care of myself.

I'm going to print out this article to take to my counselor. I don't know that it will do any good. We'll see. I think one of the most difficult aspects of this disorder is being misunderstood and judged so harshly. I've lost my friends, my job, my ability to cope, I've even lost the respect of my children. Through the grace of God though, I still have the love of my husband, and the comfort and truth of His word.

The other hard part is the mental stuff. My mind just doesn't follow the rules of rational thought and rational emotions that I think it should. I'm not sure what God is going to hold me accountable for. I just know that so much is out of my control. I feel vulnerable to every source of stress.

I long so much to hear Him, to be intimate with Him, to obey Him, to know all is well between us. When my mind went scrambled yesterday, I told Mike I want so much for this all to be over and for me to stand before God and hear His judgement of me one way or another so it can just be over with. I hate not knowing and being in fear of disappointing God.

People can't understand, even when they want to. I'm in this alone...just me and God. I pray for mercy. I pray He will reach down to me. I pray that someday all will be well...someday. The church's mom's group will go on just fine without me. I sense they think I'm crazy, inappropriate, incompetent, a clingy lost puppy sort. I had wanted to be included, to be accepted, to be loved, to have opportunity to contribute. It's just beyond me why God would not want me to have those things. But life rolls on...each day one day closer to the end that I so desperately crave.

My daughter told me I'm a joke. I've always wondered how she sees me, and the effect that my unpredictable moods and abilities have on her. When the kids were little, they were oblivious. They didn't judge me harshly. They just accepted that I loved them dearly, fed them, held them, played with them, and taught them. As they got older and saw the talents and gifts of other moms, along with the difficult time I have with consistency, fulfilling expectations, and keeping friends, they think I'm a joke. I do the best I can. It's just that my best is only as good as someone else's worst. I know it's God's judgement of me that matters, not people's judgement. But I fear that too. Will he be harsh towards me like the master who returned to find that his servant buried his talents? I'm so tired of being confused and scared. I read scripture and it just feeds into my fears, but I keep doing it because I know that is one thing God would want me to do. I don't have to guess about that.

Mike says my biggest fault is that I don't listen. I'm in tears. It's not that I don't want to listen. There is something wrong with my ability to comprehend and apply what he is saying. He tells me things he's told me before, and it's as if I'm hearing it for the first time. And then a few minutes later, it's gone again. That is why I write so much. If I don't write it down, it's gone. I write things I want to be able to look at again later. Perhaps I'll ask him to tell me when I need to take notes on what he says to me...lol. I sure remember things a lot differently than he does. He says I'm sick this time around because I didn't quit my job when he told me to. I just stuck with it, giving it everything I had until my body forced me to quit. I remember Mike specifically telling me that he wasn't going to tell me what to do. Now he is saying that if I had quit when he told me to, I wouldn't still be sick two months after the fact. I can't win for losing. No matter what I do, it's wrong and I'm being punished always. I can never guess the right thing. It's so frustrating. I envy people who can hear God's voice. I even fear that perhaps I'm not one of his sheep at all because his word says that his sheep know his voice.

Trying to figure out what is wrong with me and what to do about it by myself has been so hard. But over the years, I've made a lot of progress and have learned a lot. I'm not sure how to communicate it to others because they just think I'm making excuses for myself. But this article explains so much, from the lead, mercury, and cadmium poisoning (which has been medically documented) to the effects on the adrenal glands (which my medical tests have also proved), to how that affects everything else including my mind, energy, immune system, blood sugar, blood pressure, and even the pain in my legs, and heart palpitations (even through I don't have heart problems). It's all related and it all makes sense to me and the doctor who wrote the article. Some things cannot be disputed, they are not subjective...like a body temperature of 96.8 degrees, a blood pressure of 60/30, a blood sugar of 30. My symptoms are not that severe right now, but the only explanation doctors have given me in the past is that nothing is wrong with me...I'm just a hypochondriac with psychosomatic symptoms. Whatever, I gave up on doctors helping me a long time ago. They just take your money whether they help you or not and that's not right. I don't have any more money to give them to insult me. I'm grateful to all doctors who care and use what they know to help people and seek to know more to help people who aren't being helped by what's currently being taught in medical schools. I'm grateful to Dr. Mac for being willing to run unconventional tests and give unconventional treatments.

But how does this all apply to me as a Christian? It shouldn't apply at all I'm told. According to Christians, at least to the moms group, I just need to quit saying I'm sick and I'll be well. According to Roslyn, I just need to speak and claim my healing and move forward. Well, since that hasn't worked, I can only assume that God is involved in the process and has a good reason for my limitations...one that is part of his plan, and one that will bring him glory. A Christian psychologist once told me that illness must be working for me or I would get better. Ouch, ouch, ouch.

Same song, same dance, another day. God help me.

Aldosterone

Re: Sodium question
Posted by: "Holly" aryiella1975@yahoo.com aryiella1975
Fri Dec 28, 2007 7:23 pm (PST)
I found this article, maybe will be useful, seems that there is a difference between blood levels of sodium/potassium and what is in your cells.http://www.tuberose .com/Adrenal_ Glands.html============ ========= ========= ========= =Regulation and Actions of AldosteroneAdrenal Fatigue and Craving for SaltAs mentioned in the "Anatomy" section, aldosterone is manufactured in the zona glomerulosa of the adrenal cortex. Like coritsol, aldosterone follows a diurnal pattern of secretion with its major peak at around 8:00 AM and major low between midnight and 4:00 AM. Also like coritsol, its production and secretion increases and decreases in response to stimulation of the adrenal cortex by ACTH. This means that aldosterone levels generally rise in stressful situations. However, aldosterone is not part of the negative feedback loop controlling its release. Instead, it depends on the negative feedback loop in which coritsol levels trigger ACTH activity. This means that coritsol determines the amount of ACTH which controls production of both coritsol and aldosterone with aldosterone having no say in the matter. The only thing the cells that produce aldosterone can do to regulate production is to alter their sensitivity to ACTH. Therefore, after about 24 hours, the adrenal cells of the zona glomerulosa become less sensitive to the demands of ACTH and stop manufacturing more aldosterone. The amount of circulating aldosterone then begins to decrease, even though the ACTH levels are high and the need for increased amounts of aldosterone may continue. This decreased production continues until the cells of the zona glomerulosa recover their sensitivity to ACTH, but in the meantime the decreased aldosterone leads to many of the symptoms of adrenal fatigue.Aldosterone is the most important mineralocorticoid, but corticosterone and desoxycorticosteron e are also included in this category. The effects of aldosterone depletion can be observed in a large number of hypoadrenic persons. Aldosterone depletion may create one or more different symptoms which are specifically related to the diminished mineralocorticoid levels. In the chronically stressed person, the levels of sodium and chlorides in the urine should be measured as well as the specific gravity in the urine. Chlorides in the urine are measured by Koenisburg's test. This test also provides information of the sodium levels being excreted in the urine. Excessive sodium in the urine is one of the first clues that a person has a hypoadrenic problem.Aldosterone is responsible for the maintenance of fluid (water) and the concentration of certain minerals (sodium, potassium, magnesium and chloride) in the blood, the interstitial fluid (area between the cells) and inside the cells. Working with other hormones such as anti-diuretic hormone from the pituitary and rennin and angiotensin I and II from the kidneys, aldosterone keeps the fluid balance and salt concentration intact, in roughly the same concentration as sea water. In the blood and interstitial fluid, sodium is the most dominant of the four minerals. Inside the cells, potassium has the highest concentration. These four minerals are called electrolytes because they carry minute electrical charges. These electrolytes are very important for proper cell function and fluid properties and they must remain in a relatively constant ratio to each other and to the body fluids. Small deviations in their ratios to each other, or to their concentration in the body fluids, means alterations in the properties of the fluid, the cell membrane and the biochemical reactions within the cell. In fact, most of the physiological reactions in the body depend in some way on the flow or concentration of electrolytes.Aldosterone, in times of stress is the major director of these relationships by its influence on sodium and water concentrations. Although this interaction is somewhat complex, the overall process is easy to understand if you just keep an eye on the sodium in relation to aldosterone. As the concentration of aldosterone rises, the concentration of sodium rises in the blood and interstitial fluid. Wherever sodium goes, so follows water. In adrenal fatigue, the craving for salt is a direct result of the lack of adequate aldosterone. As mentioned above, aldosterone controls sodium, potassium and fluid volumes in your body. When aldosterone secretions are normal, potassium, sodium and fluid levels are also normal. When aldosterone is high, sodium is kept high in the fluids circulating in your body. However, as circulating aldosterone levels fall, sodium is removed from your bloodstream as it passes through the kidneys and is excreted in the urine. When sodium is excreted it takes water with it. Initially, there is some loss of volume of your body fluids but it does not become severe unless the condition worsens. Once your circulating sodium level drops to about 50% of its original concentration in body fluids, even a small loss of sodium or sodium restriction in your diet begins to have severe consequences. Tiny fluctuations in blood sodium concentration have a significant effect o blood volume when sodium is depleted to this level. When the sodium supply of the blood is not replenished by eating salt-containing foods or liquids, sodium and water is pulled from your interstitial fluids into the blood to keep your blood sodium levels and water volume from getting too low. If too much salt or fluid is pulled from the interstitial fluids, the small amount of sodium in the cells begins to migrate out of the cells into the interstitial fluid. The cell does not have a great reserve of sodium because it needs to maintain its 15:1 ratio of potassium to sodium. As the sodium is pulled from the cell, water follows the sodium out. This leaves the cell dehydrated as well as sodium deficient. In addition, in order to keep the sodium/potassium ratio inside the cell constant, potassium then begins to migrate out in small quantities. However, each cell has minimum requirements for the absolute amounts of sodium, potassium and water necessary for its proper function. When these requirements are not met, cell function suffers, even if the proper ratio is maintained. If you are suffering from moderately severe adrenal fatigue, you must be careful how you re-hydrate yourself. Drinking much water or liquid without adequate sodium replacement will make you feel worse because it will dilute the amount of sodium in your blood even further. Also, your cells need salt to absorb fluids because sufficient sodium must be inside the cell before water can be pulled back across the membrane into the cell. When you are already low on body fluids and electrolytes, as you are in this situation, you should always add salt to your water. Do not drink soft drinks or electrolyte- rich sports drinks, like Gatorade, because they are high in potassium and low in sodium, the opposite of what someone with low coritsol levels who is dehydrated needs. Commercial electrolyte replacement drinks are designed for people who produce an excess of coritsol when exercising, not people who are low on coritsol and aldosterone. Instead, yo are much better off having a glass of water with ¼ - 1 teaspoon salt in it, or eating something salty with water to help replenish both sodium and fluid volume. In a nation of people suffering from adrenal fatigue, the fast food restaurants come to the rescue. Such restaurants use an excessive amount of salt in their foods; a custom left-over from the old road houses where lots of salt was used in the food to stimulate appetites and whet the thirst (for alcohol, the biggest profit item). Although not a good solution, it supplies "emergency" rations daily to people living in marginal health. It averts the crisis and replenishes their supplies for another few hours. When your aldosterone levels are low and you are dehydrated and sodium deficient, you may also crave potassium because your body is sending you the message that your cells are low on potassium as well as sodium and water. However, after consuming only a small amount of potassium containing foods or beverages (fruit, fruit juice, sodas and commercial electrolyte replacement drinks), you will probably feel worse because the potassium/sodium ration will be further disrupted. What you really need in this situation is a combination of all three, water, salt and potassium in the right proportions. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is to drink small repeated doses of water accompanied by a little food sprinkled with kelp powder. Kelp powder contains both potassium and sodium in an easily assimilated form. Depending upon taste and symptoms, extra salt can be added. Sea salt is a better choice than regular refined table salt, because it contains trace amounts of other minerals in addition to the sodium. Another choice is to drink a vegetable juice blend containing some celery and chard and diluted with purified water.Usually, within 24-48 hours, your hydration and electrolyte balance will have stabilized enough that you can proceed to an adrenal-supporting diet. You must continue to be careful to drink salted water or vegetable juices 2-4 times during the day, varying the amount of salt according to your taste, and you should avoid potassium-containin g foods in the morning when your coritsol and aldosterone levels are low. Never eat or drink electrolyte- depleting or diuretic foods and beverages such as alcohol and coffee, especially if you have been out in the sun or are otherwise dehydrated. One of the problems people with adrenal fatigue constantly deal with is a mild dehydration and sodium depletion. When there is inadequate aldosterone, the kidney allows sodium, chlorides and water to spill into the urine, and maintains ionic balance by retaining, rather than excreting, potassium. Some of these low aldosterone persons present with symptoms of dehydration. The appearance of the tongue is one of the easily monitored indicators of dehydration. Normally, one should feel considerable slickness when running a finger down the protruded tongue of a person. It should slide easily across the tongue like a cube of ice across a wet piece of waxed paper. If the tongue is rough like sandpaper, or if you feel friction, with your finger catching or sticking to the tongue's surface, it is an indication of inadequate tissue hydration. The person needs more water intake. The person may report excessive urination, up to 15 or 20 times daily. Likewise, due to the effect of aldosterone on the sweat glands, the person may report excessive perspiration or perspiration with little or no physical activity. The common factor in all of these persons is a weakness of sartorius, gracilis, posterior tibialis, gastrocnemius, or soleus, and a background of some type of stress.A person with lowered aldosterone may also demonstrate other symptoms. For a nervous system action potential to take place there must be an adequate supply of sodium on the outside of the cell membrane and an adequate supply of potassium inside the cell. They must be balanced. If this balance is undermined by a loss of sodium and retention of potassium, the nervous system will find it difficult to propagate normal action potentials and maintain itself at a good functional level. This may result in a wide variety of symptoms, including muscle twitches and even cardiac arrhythmias (heart palpitations) .With a chronic sodium-potassium imbalance, the person will show the sign of a paradoxical pupillary reflex. Normally, shining a light into a person's eye will cause the pupil to constrict. This papillary constriction to light should be able to maintain itself for at least 30 seconds. In the hypoadrenic person (especially in the exhaustion stage of the GAS) you will find one of three things:1. The pupil will fluctuate opened and closed in response to light.2. The pupil will fluctuate opened and closed in response to light. (This is a deliberate opening and closing, not the minor flutter or twitch of the normally encountered hippus activity.)3. The pupil will initially constrict to light, but it will dilate paradoxically with continued light stimulation of less than 30 seconds. This patient will frequently complain of eyes that are sensitive to light (such as when going from indoors to outside on a sunny day) or will be seen wearing sunglasses whenever outdoors or even indoors under bright light.Another problem related to lowered mineralocorticoid levels in hypoadrenia is a paradoxical, non-pitting edema of the extremities. When the patient with hypoadrenia spills sodium and water into the urine and perspiration, and has a tendency to be dehydrated, we would hardly expect him to show signs of holding water, such as edema. But that is exactly what we do see in some hypoadrenic patients. With the body spilling large amounts of extracellular sodium and likewise retaining intercellular potassium, we can see how an osmotic differential could develop in the patient's tissues. If the osmotic difference (created by the increased potassium seeking its intercellular position and the lowered extracellular sodium levels) is severe enough, the body will most often attempt to correct this osmotic imbalance by allowing extracellular fluid to enter the cells. (It is also possible that the body could kick the potassium out of the cell and into the extracellular fluids, and although this occasionally occurs, we rarely see signs of this in the blood potassium levels.) The body is trying to dilute the potassium in the cell with water, to bring the system into osmotic equilibrium. The cells take on water, and the patient has swelling.Often, these patients are placed on a diuretic by an unenlightened physician whose only basis for this prescription is the patient's symptoms. The diuretic in these patients rarely helps the condition and often aggravates the tendency toward dehydration. Further, many diuretics act as adrenal (aldosterone) inhibitors, adding even more stress to the adrenals and tending to make the patient worse in the long run.Even in adrenal fatigue, the body is still wonderful, beautiful and incredibly wise. It is our society, our maladaptation to the stresses of modern life, and our poor judgment that need to change. We may not be able to change society but we can learn to use better judgment when it comes to taking care of ourselves and to respond to stress in healthier ways.

Safe Paints- Low in VOC's

Barb, This is the first time we are painting since I developed sensitivities so I really need the advice of those with experience. Hopefully this will also get you in the "groove" to start your own blog pluggin'! Cause it really does work! It brings some of the older blogs back around again.
Some blogs make you laugh, some make you cry, some cause us to learn, some cause us to have our beliefs verified. Whatever the reason, let's all plug our favorite blog, so that others may be able to read your favorites.
I will start with my all time favorite blog, here on MyChurch and please feel free to add yours.
The only rule I can think of is to only have each blog "plugged" one time on this page. If your favorite is already plugged, simply let us know your favorite and choose another blog.
To plug a blog: Simply go to the blog, via the search engine, then "right-click" up top in the address bar and click "copy", then go back to this page and click the "comment" section to put the cursor there, and "right-click" and choose "paste." Just make sure you don't type on this page and leave the page or your comment will be gone when you come back :) Don't you hate when that happens? So get the "plug" first, then come back and type your comment. Oh, and did you Star your favorite blog?
Added information on 5/10/07 This is from Carebear Thanks Carol!
How to post a link in your comments with the URL hidden
1) Type the word or phrase you want to be the link. Example: Yahoo
2) Highlight this word or phrase with your mouse
3) Click on the 'links' icon button on the editor
4) Paste the actual URL that you want to link to in the 'Link URL' field.
Happy Bloggin'

Hospital Protocol for MCS Patients

Copying and Pasting to this blog made a mess of the protocol, so here is the link to view it online:

http://www.toxicsin fo.org/canary/ Protocols/ MercyMedical. htm

New Probiotic to Try

http://www.isecureonline.com/reports/655SENZ/E6DDHCAG/?o=1404405&u=18043632&l=835794&g=4995
I see that it may contain soy and wheat...so, I won't be taking it, but I may try it for the rest of the family. I'm able to get pearl probiotics for about $11 a month from www.vitacost.com so this is a bit pricier at $15 to $20 a month depending on how much you purchase. I've also found pearl probiotics with enzymes included...but not with the prebiotics included. I'm wondering if I might just be able to add these prebiotics to my diet. It's worth giving some thought. Olivia has not had anymore skin rashes since I've added chewable acidopholis to her daily routine. She loves them...even throws a little temper tantrum for me to get them for her when she sees me taking my vitamins. She won't take the Flinstone's multi though. She used to, but decided to quit one day...so frustrating.

*************************************************************************************

THE PROBLEM WITH PROBIOTICS
Even if you're using the best probiotics in the world, you're still not getting complete digestive support.
So, if you're suffering from occasional diarrhea...constipation...gas...bloating...indigestion...a "growling gut"...or even if you just "can't handle" certain foods...
READ THIS NOW!
Because I've got a breakthrough for you that goesway beyond the power of probiotics alone...at a price that won't give you heartburn!
A special report by William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.
Dear Friend in Search of Complete Support,
If there's one thing that makes my own belly boil, it's overblown claims for supplements. And if you suffer any kind of digestive discomfort, I'm sure you've seen plenty of hype for probiotics.
These "miracle pills" are supposed to solve all the problems of a cranky gut by boosting your supply of "good bacteria"--you know, those friendly little critters that reside in your intestines and help you digest your food.
Maybe you're one of the many who have paid a small fortune for probiotics, hoping to banish your digestive pain. You rip open the package with eager anticipation...take the pills...and nothing happens.
Don't get me wrong. I do like probiotics and I've been telling my patients to take probiotics for years. But the simple fact is...
Probiotics alone are too puny to address it all!
Why? Because, first of all, your digestive system is enormous. If you unwound the whole thing, it would measure an astounding 30 feet in length. And it's equally complex. Consider what happens after every swallow...
FIRST, your stomach receives your food and mixes it with digestive juices (acids and enzymes) to help break that food down...SECOND, your small intestine sends in "friendly bacteria" to further digest the food, then absorbs the results and delivers them into your bloodstream...
THIRD, your colon (large intestine) removes water and salts from the your food and supplies many more friendly bacteria to break down any undigested materials...
Getting the picture? Smooth digestion depends upon all 3 parts working together in perfect harmony...
But most probiotics only work to comfort ONE THIRD of your digestive system...
Which leaves the other two-thirds of that 30-foot system still in need!
But not for long. I've got a brand-new breakthrough for you that can take care of ALL 3 digestive hot spots...in one convenient, gentle, easy to swallow capsule. I call it Ultimate Digestion Support. And this "once a day wonder" is about to become your new best friend.
Let me explain...
FIRST, IT SOOTHES YOUR STOMACHwith 8 different digestive enzymes...
When we're youngsters, our stomachs naturally secrete all kinds of digestive enzymes to break down our food and make it, well, digestible. But as we age, our enzyme production tends to peter out--and that's where indigestion, gas, diarrhea, and constipation all begin.
So Ultimate Digestion Support comes to your gut's rescue, with not just one but an army of supplementary enzymes. And each plays its own very important role...
Protease breaks down protein-rich foods and liberates the amino acids your bodyneeds to support your immune system...
Amylase helps digest carbohydrates, so that your pancreas can function better...
Lipase takes on the fats so they don't cause problems further down...
Cellulase and Hemicellulase break down plant cell walls to help free nutrients in both fruits and vegetables...
Lactase breaks down dairy products to help prevent cramping and diarrhea...
Invertase breaks down sucrose, for better digestion of sugars...
And Bromelain, the kingpin of enzymes, delivers extra help for all of the above!
So at long last, your poor, overworked stomach can relax, do its thing and deliver properly digested food to the next part of your digestive system, where Ultimate Digestion Support comes to your rescue again...
THEN IT CALMS YOUR INTESTINESwith 3 different powerful probiotics...
Now, your small intestine is where probiotics really shine. Because a healthy gut should ideally contain over 3 pounds of friendly bacteria to break down your food into all its essential nutrients.
IF YOU'RE TAKING ANY SUPPLEMENTS, you need Ultimate Digestion Support too!
If you're not taking a digestive aid with your supplements, you're throwing away a good portion of your hard-earned money. Because supplements won't do a lick of good unless they're absorbed!
And only Ultimate Digestion Support provides my ideal combination of enzymes, probiotics and prebiotics--helping your gut break down your supplements and speed them into your bloodstream, where they can go to work.
But as we age, this army of "good guys" tends to thin out dangerously. So you've got to send in reinforcements and...
I'm convinced you need 3 different kinds!
Acidophilus alone is all you get in many probiotic formulas. It's a good start, but far from enough! That's why my Ultimate Digestion Support provides...
Bifidobacterium bifidum to help you absorb your vitamins and minerals. "BB" as I like to call it, helps turn your food into B-complex vitamins and encourages absorption of all that expensive calcium you've been taking. Plus it helps you fight off bad bacteria that give you the miseries...
Lactobacillus sporogenes to keep things moving at an even clip. Not too fast, not too slow, not too hard, not too soft...
And yes, good old Lactobacillus acidophilus, which helps you handle dairy products, creates natural antibodies to boost your immune system and produces vitamin-K, an essential nutrient for healthy bones.
By the way, if you ever take antibiotics, this trio of probiotic "good guys" can also help replenish the good bacteria that are killed off by antibiotic therapy.
And finally it's time toCOMFORT YOUR COLON...
...Which is where diarrhea, constipation, gas, bloating and most other digestive complaints reach their painful crescendo. Yet, this is precisely where probiotics alone simply peter out.
You see, probiotics start releasing their payload of "good bacteria" in the previous two-thirds of your digestive train. So not nearly enough of these friendly bacteria make it all the way to the "caboose"--your colon.
And that's exactly why Ultimate Digestion Support provides...
PREbiotics!
You might call prebiotics a "welcoming committee" for your friendly bacteria. They feed and nurture the probiotic "good guys" who do survive the long trip to your colon--so they thrive, multiply and turn your turbulent colon into a comfort zone!
Specifically, each capsule of Ultimate Digestion Support contains 3 special kinds of proven prebiotics...
Larch arabinogalactan to feed "the troops" and increase their numbers...
Soluble maltodextrin fiber to keep them healthy and active...
Enzymatic guar hydrolysate to keep them moving throughout your colon...
Ultimate Digestion Support --14 TIMES MORE DIGESTIVE RELIEF for all three parts of your system!
8 digestive enzymes to soothe your stomach3 proven probiotics to calm your intestines3 powerful prebiotics to comfort your colon
All this for a fraction of what you'd pay for formulas that don't even work!
Now you couldgo out and hunt down all these different enzymes and prebiotics to gulp down with your probiotics. But you'd spend a small fortune. (And besides, it's so much trouble; you'd probably never do it, would you?)
But now you can get everything your digestive system needs to work better--all 14 fabulous tummy tamers--in one highly affordable, easy-to-take capsule. And because I've included no exotic- sounding wanna-be's to jack up the price, I'm going to guarantee it's the best deal you'll ever give your gut. He has a chart where he has given examples, such as:
MCS is often caused by pesticide or organic solventexposure, but can also result from early life stress.

If I understand correctly, the treatment plan is the same, no matter what the cause is, and focuses on the NO/ONNO wacky cycle.

The 15 nutritionalsupplements which are suggested in the book are:
1. Nebulized, inhaled reduced glutathione
2.Nebulized, inhaled hydroxocobalamin (some use sublingual)
3.Mixed, natural tocopherols including gamma-tocopherol
4.Buffered vitamin C
5.Magnesium as malate
6.Four different flavonoid sources: Ginkgo biloba extract, cranberryextract, silymarin, and bilberry extract
7.Selenium as selenium-grown yeast
8.Coenzyme Q10
9.Folic acid
10. So we ahve a 1st quarter receipts then in April he puts it away and makes 2nd quarter, etc. That works relatively well since I more or less know when I bought something if it needs to be returned. Honestly for things that I buy w/ cash theres times I don't keep the receipt - like if I just need milk once I open it and know its OK I throw the receipt away. Everything else tho that's "everyday" we save there more or less in date order. And like you said, big items receipts get stapled to the warranty paperwork or instruction booklet...Leslie

************************************************************************************
Here is what I do: I have a 5x7 plastic index card file. I bought 5x7 dividers 1-31 (or you can buy blank ones). After recording receipts in my checkbook register, I put them behind the corresponding date. As I am putting receipts away, I shred old receipts (from the previous month) that I know I will not need. For the ones that I want to keep, I add dividers in the back of the card file for each store/category, and place them behind the corresponding divider. If I need the receipt for taxes, I place it with my current taxes. It makes keeping receipts easier and all in one place. So, I don't have to enter receipts every single day, I bought a Page-Up Paper Holder at Office Max. I saw it at the checkout and thought it would be handy. I place the receipts in the notch. When it gets full, I know that I have to enter receipts. See the attached link for a picture.
http://www.amazon. com/PAGE-UP-227C-iColor-Space-Saving-Document/dp/B00007E83V
I hope this helps.Louise

***********************************************************************************
Hi, I justwanted to drop a note on how I keep up with receipts. I put all my receipts in an envelope and when the credit card bill comes in, I check the bill to make sure it is correct. Then I discard all receiptsfor gas, eating out etc. I keep all Walmart, Target, etc receipts with the credit card bill in a manila folder in my filing cabinet. I keep a budget on my computer where I can keep track of all my purchases. The budget is where I list what I bought. I can go to the budget and find out when I purchased an item then locate the receipt in the credit card folder with thebill for that month. (As a side note, we pay off the credit card every month so that we only pay for the things we bought. We're not paying interest on our credit card.) I mean my insurance refuses to pay for anything for me it >seems. I've been paying for my doctor appointments, my supplements, >air cleaners, masks, and chelation, etc. out of pocket. I've only >been able to work sporadically over the past few decades and usually >don't stay employed for more than a year at a time. I don't know >anything about the "system".Marlena this is something i really understand. I was pregnant when i got ill, had three other kids, had just gone to university a couple years before and had NO insurance. That was 28 yrs ago and all those years I had no insurance. I always had to pay out of pocket. But i learned from my friends who did that it didn't help a lot because insurance typically only covers standard type treatments and doctors and those kind did me, with mcs, no good at all. I can't take any meds and didn't need or want surgery! Now that I'm in canada with universal health care it still does me little good. I've been here almost 10 yrs and have only seen an md. maybe four times and never for cfs or fm or mcs as they don't dx cfs or mcs here in my city and what i need isn't covered. I do on occasion go to a chiropractor when i can afford it> God has been faithful to provide, but I'm wondering how do I find > out what resources are available legally to me...or is that an area > I'd be better off avoiding?if you worked enough prior to illness you might be able to get SSDI. Or, if your family is under a certain income level you might be able to get SSI. I do know people who have gotten either or those with cfs and fm dx but don't know anyone who had just mcs though someone here might.> I'm struggling emotionally with being a financial drain on my > family. I want to work. I've applied to a few places that I knew > were desperate to hire holiday help...and they decided not to hire > me..I'm thinking because I told them I cannot use disinfectant > sprays without becoming very ill. It puts them in fear of being > liable if anything were to happen to me while I'm working for them. But> yet if I don't say anything, then I become too ill to be able to > function to work. Most of us are unable to work a 40 hr week, and some of us can't work at all. We have too many limitations. I can't get any kind of disability and so i have always worked from home doing my own businesses. Currently I have a computer service and repair business and do graphic arts etc too. Even so I can't work enough to support myself and doing this from home against competition in a town with many same kind of businesses who have storefronts when you have no contacts to speak of isn't easy either. Prior to moving here I did architectural design and drafting but lived in a small town where i didn't need to do any advertising to get known.I know it doesn't help the finances to say this but maybe it needs to be said anyway? And that is - we DO work even when it isn't for a paycheck! And we do have worth and value to our families! It is especially urksome to me that we live in a day and age when homemaking and childcare is so devalued that it isn't consider a job or work and when it comes to needing ssdi for instance, we don't count ? Ok that's my soapbox LOL. But seriously even if all one can do is verbally support a spouse and/or child or even a friend for those who aren't married, still that has worth. Some are prayer warriors, some speak uplifting words to those who are hurting. NO ONE i know of who is ill, no matter how ill, has no value! Everyone does. This is one of the hardest things to get across to oneself and accept when you first come to terms with being ill. One of my best friends who is a pastor's wife and I talked about this once upon a time. Even she struggled with feeling like she did nothing, felt guilty about it. She said one of the hardest things for her to learn, even tho she knew it in her head, was that God loves us, not for what we DO ie work, but just because He loves us. Period. !>> The next step I'm thinking of taking is to apply to work for a > home health service. As usual, I'll do what I can until I just > can't anymore and I'll quit. Is there a better way? I mean, how > do other people with disabilities get the help they need? If I > were to need to be a client instead of an employee of the home > health care, how do I get there? There is so much I cannot afford > out of pocket, that I do without, and what we can't do without, we > put on credit until I can get well enough to work to pay it > off. Right now we are $15,000 in the hole and I need a job to pay > it off. How have some of you found help/assistance?>> MarlenaWell be carefull not to push yourself too far! Too many of us here did that, pushed until we dropped flat on our face. Not a good thing to do. (working). We are a 'two of us ill" family. Neither dh or I can hold down a job. He gets a very small disability pension and I get nothing. It is very difficult... and worrisome. I'm sure others here could share stories of struggles too. Unfortunately it's common. I'm too tired at the moment to add some ideas ...but i do know others here can tell you about disability assistance etc too.zona
Back to top Reply to sender Reply to group Reply via web post Messages in this topic (8)
10b.
Re: I have a question
Posted by: "writerabc7777" http://us.f374.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=writerabc7777@yahoo.com&Subj=writerabc7777
Tue Nov 20, 2007 6:32 am (PST)
Hi Marlena..so very very sorry for all your difficulties.many of us have been faced with similar issues.I have been on government disability since the late 80's.Do you know about Share, Care, Prayer? I did a lot of research, kept askingquestions, etc. etc. etc. until I started getting the information andanswers that I needed. As far as work goes, maybe there are some professional resources thatdescribe various kinds of work from home jobs. I have also heard aboutmedical transcription. I think there is legal transcription as well. Some people have set up businesses through Ebay. However, allergic/sensitive people can have reactions which affect any organ system and which can affect more than one organ system at a time. Thus, they can have a wide variety of ongoing symptoms, and symptoms which come and go. Dr. Theron Randolph taught that the more symptoms a person had, the more likely they had Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Most people would connect allergic respiratory symptoms with an inhaled allergen, allergic skin symptoms with a contact allergen, and allergic digestive symptoms with ingested allergens. However, people with injured immune systems can react in any area of the body to an inhaled, touched or ingested allergen. Therefore, a person could touch something and get a digestive problem, or breathe something and get a neurological problem, or eat something and get an eye problem. And everyone is different.

In his book, "Dr. Mandell's 5-Day Allergy Relief System," Marshall Mandell, M.D., lists the following symptoms reproduced in his patients during allergy testing. The principles are simple table and social manners.

4 Rules for Success:
1. Say please and thank you
2. Be on time
3. Keep your word
4. Complete what you start.

I believe these take up Jesus’ Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

The third principle is an obvious one, but I think we can all agree that it is important to remember, and that is to keep our word. Failing to keep our word is kind of like lying, but keeping our word is a sign of integrity. Many times we have good intentions when we make promises but as time goes by, it’s easy to change our minds and try to wiggle our way out of it.
In Proverbs 12:22, the Bibles tells us that “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are his delight.” We should keep our word even if it becomes difficult. An exception would be if what we’ve promised to do conflicts with an emergency or it was wrong to begin with. Then we must make the appropriate appeals to be released. By keeping our promises we demonstrate that we have godly character. Matthew 5:37 says, “Let your yes be yes, and your no be no.”
Those of us who seem to get ourselves into situations where we find we’ve broken our word over and over again, need to recognize this is an issue we need to take to the Lord. But if we keep our word and do what we’ve promised, our kids will see a small but profound difference in their interactions with other people.

Entertaining

Here is an idea for entertaining visiting children indoors:

"I did want to share something I've done that has worked with havingchildren over. Here in Colorado we have lots of too windy, too coldto play outside days, but we still want to have people and children over. To help with this, I keep gallon size zip-lock bags with craftsinside for the kids to grab if they get bored or too loud.

Each bag has instructions for a craft and most of the supplies needed forseveral children to do the craft (they just grab scissors, glue, whatever, from our craft bins). You can then replenish the suppliesas you run low on full bags, reusing the bag and instruction sheets. I keep them in a milk crate on the play area shelf along with an oldplastic mat or shower curtain for the floor .

Ideas: decoupage lightswitch, stained glass tissue pictures, cotton ball animal pictures, bracelets, pipecleaner and bead stars or trees, paper cup maraccas, foam holiday frames or magnets, paper bowl turtles, noodle mosaics, hanging spinning paper snakes. If you order from Oriental TradingCompany at all, you can often pick up a craft kit for 8-10 for verylittle and add this to your bags.

I've found that even the boys often enjoy sitting around a craft for a while, and if it does get messyit's a localized mess that they can easily clean up when done. I've read a book on enzymes to understand the role they play, and my experience with Reliv lets me know that supplementing with them is beneficial to me. This is a resource recommended in my www.douglasreport.com newsletter. I'll be looking for other sources. I'm already paying approx $12/month for probiotics. This has probiotics included...

Even if you’re taking the very best supplements,
YOUR BODY ISN’T GETTING ALL THE NUTRIENTS IT NEEDS...
That’s right. If you’re not taking a digestive aid with your supplements, you’re throwing away a good portion of your hard-earned money. Because supplements won’t do a lick of good unless they’re absorbed! You need a combination of enzymes, probiotics and prebiotics to help your gut down your supplements and speed them into your bloodstream, where they can go to work. That’s why I developed Ultimate Digestive Support. Not just for growling guts and angry bowels, but for everyone who wants to get the most out of every meal and every nutrient that goes into...and out of...your body. Sound intriguing?
